First of all sorry for writing english but I think most of you can understand it ;)

I visited Hemsila river on my Norway trip in early July. Unfortunately I had only one full day and morning time to fish there, so I knew that there would not be enaugh time to get to know all the places and find best places to fish. I have read something about the river, so I knew something about the flies to use there etc.

First impressions was that the river looked really nice with great landscapes. River looked nice place to fish with dry flies but also maybe hard to find fish if those are not rising. The weather was really hot and sunny, not best weather to fish on river like this I think. With one full day and one morning I got only small fish up but also found some bigger fish, but those didn't accept my flies :( Not so good mayfly haches that I would have liked to see. I'm not complaning anything about the catch, I know there's nice fish, I just wish I could have had more time and better weather and hatches.

Now to the rules and prices etc. I think there's couple of strange things.

1. you are forced to buy 2days license to fly fishing zone, why is it like that? I had only one day time and one morning and had to buy 2-days licence which was 700NOK.

2. you are not allowed to fish at night on 00-08, why, I don't get it? One the sunny and hot days like that I would have liked to fish on night when its not so hot and maybe fish are not so shy.

3. 700 NOK on 32 hours fishingtime (2 days minus nights) is quite a lot for that place in my opinion

In my opininon fishing pressure was not too big on those days I was fishing, I think there's a lot of places for people but maybe it can be more people some days. Maybe splitting river to pools that has rod limit per day could be nice. Maybe there could be then pools with different prices etc.

Not so good thing was also that I met one man with spinning rod and plastic bag with fish on the fly fishing zone, I dont know how common this is but hopefully with that kind of rules and prices there is inspectors to check out fishing licenses and that people are following rules.

But nice river anyway, maybe I come back some day with better time.

Maybe they are too busy counting money to check up on the rules/river eh? ;)

If this happened after 15.july, and in the lower part of the river (below "Sirkuset"), then it would be legal... ;)

I think it's only fear if the trout can get an 8 hour rest in "prime time" season... :)

No, before that, on all-season flyfishing zone. But I know there's idiots all over the world, you cannot get rid of them if there's inspector all the time on the river. I asked that "Do you know that this is fly fishing zone?", i dont know if he understand but he said he "yes" ;) After couple of cast he then left..

Well, maybe so ;) But I am used to that I can fish in the night on bright, hot summer days, so this was weard rule to me.
